Sonic Heroes is a great game that I can easily recommend. The graphics were faithfully made to look like the colorful graphics of the 16-bit era. The speed was great, the music was pretty nice, and the Christian-friendly rating is very good. I just have a few complaints.
The controls are a bit broken and eventually will probably send you to your doom over the edge. A couple of the voices just KILL me (Yes, I'm talking to you Espio, Charmy and Big). Content wise Heroes is pretty good except for one or two things. There is a haunted house themed zone that will include a ghost or two. Not to mention and witch robot. The other thing is Rouge the Bat. He outfit shows much more cleavage that her normal one. Other than that, I recommend Sonic heroes.

Actually, that was 16-bit sonic.
Other than that, I agree. But sonic colors brought it back to classic.

Oh also, sorry to comment again, but I forgot one more point that may or may not be of concern:
There is a level that has a casino theme, with Vegas-style lighting and floor textures that resemble (I think) poker tables. It's a fast paced level and more just for show, and much of it takes place using your characters as pinballs on an enormous pinball table. You can collide with numbered icons to try to complete a "bingo", which rewards you with rings. Also, while you're on the pinball table, you can roll into what resembles a giant slot machine (it's not required to finish the level), and depending on the outcome, will reward you with many, little, or no rings. On rare occasions it takes rings away from you. Rings are not used as currency in the game though, and are only used for health and scoring at the end of each level.

This is a pretty fun game, with a very unique "multiple character" control scheme that I haven't seen since. While it does have a few minor issues (I wish the special stages were a little smoother and you wouldn't get stuck on the ceiling), I really enjoyed it and any Sonic fan should also enjoy it as well. I had a good time going through the all the extras and unlocking harder difficulty settings.
As far as parental content goes (minor spoilers):
The only violence is very cartoony, and always against Eggman's (the villain) robots, with two exceptions: first, there is a comical scene where it implies Eggman is being beaten up by one of the characters, a small bee. Second, for some reason whenever one of the four team meets up with another team, there's always a reason you have to fight them. This is done in a pretty comical and lighthearted manner though. None of them get injured, and there are no hard feelings afterward.
There is a "haunted mansion" level with some skeleton decorations. You still fight robots in this level, but occasionally a marshmallow-esque ghost will pop out of nowhere, causing one of your characters to comically scream. As you progress deeper into the level, the walls begin to look warped and fuzzy until at the end you enter an area that appears to be in a haunted void with no walls whatsoever. This might creep out younger players, but the characters do escape out into the sunlight at the end. It's hard to describe, but you can watch a video of it if you look up "Mystic Mansion" on YouTube.
There are no "ancient monsters", no "magical temples", or anything like that. As always, there are the vaguely magical "chaos emeralds", but they don't even affect the main story exactly. Instead you have to collect them on your own time, and if you do that you get the "true" final level where the characters use them in a cutscene.
I was thoroughly surprised, confused, and annoyed at Amy's exclamation of "OMG". It doesn't even make sense, as she only says it sometimes when you find a hidden item. I didn't hear it at all my first playthrough. Also, if I remember properly, the subtitles didn't even capitalize the 'G', making it almost appear as a poor (and distasteful) translation error.
Tails will occasionally comment "that was one heck of a battle". Euphemisms like that really annoy me but I find most parents don't seem to care.
Rouge unfortunately makes an appearance in this game, and her outfit is a little more low-cut than her standard one. This shows in better detail in the otherwise nicely-done CGI scenes.
On a positive note, this game strongly encourages (to the point of being extremely corny) teamwork, friendship, and clear-cut "good vs. evil". All the teams in the end work together.
Overall, this is arguably the cheeriest, corniest, and most cutesy Sonic game ever (though it looks like it might lose that title to the upcoming "Sonic Colors"...). If you don't have issues with other Sonic games, then you definitely won't mind this one. I'd recommend it :)
