The Beatles have evil ties?
Not quite. They did drugs, and were communists for a while, but they all quit them eventually. And in the very last year of John Lennon's life he gave up his communistic beliefs and became entirely open to the world, still wanting peace, but he wasn't a full-blown commie anymore. George was Hinduist, but he wasn't evil and retained the belief until he died. Paul and Ringo are still all over peace, though. Ringo believes John is in Heaven, and I heard John believed in a god, as well. True God, not sure. They all swore, however. Paul still does.
And about AC/DC, I've never listened to them, but I could hardly believe the were Satanic, not Christians for SURE, but I really don't think so.
And you will NEVER make me believe that this music will send me to hell. Listen to Stairway to Heaven and Sweet Child O' Mine, see who made them? Led Zeppelin and Guns N' Roses, respectively. Are they evil songs or Satanic? No way. And for the record, if somebody told you that you would hear something Satanic and reversed the Lord's Prayer, you would hear something Satanic, it's a trick of the mind. Just because somebody reversed a song doesn't make it Satanic, it was made to be played forward, not backward.
...and there's my two cents.

Really, that's a perspective thing. I used to think Christian music was THE best thing in the world, because my knowledge of secular music was limited to junk like The Black-Eyed Peas and The Jonas Brothers.
When I started listening to the good secular music... The fact of the matter is, it's musically and lyrically a lot more groundbreaking than what you'll hear anywhere on Christian mainstream radio. I've seen Guitar Praise, and it is a low-budget clone of Guitar Hero.
I've heard it said before. I'm a strong advocate of this. Right now, Christian "art" is all about making safe copies of what the secular guys are doing. We were given art by God as an incredible form of self-expression, and yet his own children are making the least of that. That saddens me.
I'm not saying all secular music is appropriate, but not all of it is inappropriate, and both these standards vary person-to-person. Christians need to be in the world, but not of the world. We need to start innovating. We're the closest to the God who created art, so we should be blazing trails the non-Christians want to copy, not the other way around.

My biggest problems with Metallica are thier lyrics and thier tone.

Specifically, guitar tone. They take thier EQ and turn the lows (bass) and highs (treble) way up, but 'scoop' all the mids out. This scooped tone is just...scooped out. Lacking.
