I have to raise this game from the ashes, because I just found this website, and saw that DoW was reviewed, and I have to share.

The "depravity" in this game, I feel, shows exactly the path that mankind is heading without God. We may grow technically advance, make bigger and badder weapons, and grow super humans, but where does that take us? Right smack dab into the Warhammer 40k universe.

Warhammer 40k, believe it or not, was used by God to bring me to Him. While reading the books one day, I stopped and said, "Man, I'd love to have as much devotion in something as these Space Marines do." When I looked, I figured out that somebody is calling me to an even deeper devotion. The Warhammer 40k universe realizes that mankind must be devoted to SOMETHING, whether it be God, or some machination of their own devising. Because of the devotion of the Space Marines, I stepped towards Christ. Since then, my Lord has taken me, and lifted me up out of the muck and mire that I called daily life, and stood me by His side. I admit that I occasionally dive back into the pig pen, but I can't stay there. Like a child, I often look up out of my filth covered state to God, abashed at my own depravity, and ask Him to forgive me, and clean me all over again, just as He had to wash His Apostles' feet. I am ashamed of myself, and eternally thankful for His mercy, grace, and love, and fearful of His wrath.

I would give this game a Christian rating 3/5 stars. It displays the path that man is on without God, which is half of the Gospel. What it is missing, is the other half. It also shows that man is in need of something to be devoted to. If you come to understand what is missing in the heart of man, you're halfway there. Now you have to find the One that can fill up that heart with Himself. Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

It's amazing. I've played it a lot. The most remarkable thing is the fact that you have 9 different races to control, each one has completely different gameplay.

A great series. Not recommended for children or people who cannot stand graphic images of violence and intense warfare. Overall this game is great, especially for those who are familiar with the decades old table top franchise will have a blast - literally. Awesome graphics and excellent audio surrounds this game. Its brutal but nothing really on a controversial level.

Can the blood and mutilation in Dawn of War be turned off? My parents don't like the game, but if the stuff can be turned off, I can get it.

All right, I do understand that there is much I left out and I thank you for editing it, but as a fanboy, I have to correct a one glaring thing:

Most Space Marines do not worship the Emperor as a God. They regard him as a father figure, since they are literally made of his flesh (gene-seed). The worship of the Emperor as a God is a tool used by the Ecclesiarchy to control the general populace, something the Marines escape by being exempt from Imperial law.
