It actually worked out quite well for them at first when reading and listening to audio logs, what destroyed it all was Andrew Ryan when he became all crazed and tyrannical, the war began when people who wanted OUT of rapture were forced to stay.

This game isn't my favorite personally, Moral choices only impact the ending cinematic, and really since there's no real tradeoff with SAVING the little sisters lives over HARVESTING them, people will allways choose the goodie option, which kinda is a let down, the moral highground should be the hardest thing to maintain because it involves risking yourself and having a hard time later on, but with a great reward at the end.
Also it's too much of a watered down version of the System Shock series, Bioshock 2 seems to be all about mayhem and deathmatch rather than story. sadly.

Bioshock's story is it's strongest point. I've never played a game that's sucked me into it's world as much as this one. Everything from the character development to the music, the envrironments, the soud and voice acting...they're all incredible and really make this game what it is. It's abvious that alot of love went into this game. However, beware as the game is very bloody. Mutilated corpses, bodies lying in pools of blood are everywhere. The Medical Pavilion level really did shock me. As the citizens of the underwater world of Rapture have transformed into completely mad skitsofrenics, one character who happens to be a doctor obsessed with creating beauty with his scalpel, is seen repeatedly stabbing another person ( alive ) who is tied to an operating table. Multiple bodies from his so called "experiments" are shown hanging from the ceiling. It's all very macabre. The horror does die down later on in the game, but the disturbing atmoshpere and content do remain ( blood and so on ). The Lord's name is sadly used a couple of times, and the f-word ( however very infrequent ) + some others not so strong. But by all means, pick this one up. 18/20

It is very disturbing, but it really adds to the atmosphere. Lots of language too.

I haven't gotten this game, but I'm not entirely sure I want it. From what I am hearing, it has great promise and a great storyline, but I also heard that it is disturbing, horrorific, and very blasphemic. Is any of these allegations true? Someone please reply.

Bioshock is extremely graphic and at times downright brutal, however, if you can handle that you'll find yourself playing one of the best, most immersive and deep first person shooters of all time.

I look at this game sort of differently. First off yes it Is violent and their is language throughout but it sort of shows what happens when you try to take God out of your life totally. The whole point of rapture was a place where people could do anything they wanted without moral or personal obligation, and you can see how nicely that turned out for them. Also as others mentioned, their were people that attempted to spread the Bible but they were martyred.
