Those people who still consider the Resident Evil series scary should really try out the Silent Hill. The atmosphere, ambiance and presentation are amazing, even in this first part of the series! The level of detail Konami put into this game is stunning, and even with the limited processing power of the PS1 this game can and WILL crawl under your skin for sure! Plus the storyline, while sounds kinda simple and even cliché on a paper, is simply one excellent rollercoaster full of surprises! But it's not the plot itself, but the way it's presented that appeals to me: Not everything is revealed to you, many things are just hinted and by exploring and thinkering around you'll soon notice that there's much more going on "in the backgrounds" than meets the eye. Spooky atmosphere and disturbing visions, multiple endings and lot's of unlockable content really make this classic a must-buy for every horror fan out there! A true classic! Do be weary though, it is a very dark game. It's not a bad game, as it doesn't glorify evil, buy you end up fighting a twisted occult. Not for squeamish people, or those who are easily manipulated.
