@Dante: I'll try to be the voice of reason here. I agree with you partway. I have had time where DURING a video game I lost it, but that was because of frustration of having trouble beating the game. I don't think they affect my everyday life, but I can't be 100% certain, since I'm talking about myself. My 3 years older brother and 2 years younger sister play most of the games I play, and yet, we have never had problems with aggression, either between ourselves or in our relations with other people. My best friend can "own" ;) anyone in Call of Duty 4, and yet he's the nicest, and most calm guy I have ever known.

@Colonel Link: Getting nasty I see. Your attitude towards me is quite apparent. Ticked you off, eh? Shoved the truth down your throat? Hm, hm. It appears you don't want to accept the truth. Tsk, tsk. By the way, I have a friend who's been playing FPSs since somewheres about the 3rd grade, and he can get pretty aggressive. He cursed his brother, using d**n, f***. He became severely annoyed by a kid in our freshman year who was being annoying, and asked me how long it would take to drive a nail through his head. Another friend who's very similar, and he broke his I-Pod out of anger. Pretty nasty, eh? Know why? They play GoW, Halo, and other very, very nasty videogames like that!

@asdlkfj: Yes, they DO. They prove that playing a violent video game causes violent behavior. You and Colonol Link just don't want to believe it because you're just too attatched to the game.

@Brandon:
Your links "proved" nothing. The whole scientific world is split evenly down the middle as to whether or not violent video games affect people or not. In my mind, they don't. I've been playing violent FPS's since I was 5 (starting with Perfect Dark), and yet I'm a relatively shy, quite person that gets along with almost everyone. So your arguments are useless.

@panda132: Panda, in response to your statement@Colonel Link: Also considering your comment stating that everybody's different, that typical and useless argument can be rebuffed. Like so: everybody has the same fundamental instincts of good vs. evil, thus, regardless of their personality, they should react in similar ways to videogames, as proven by my links. Plus, if indeed, everybody is different, there would be no trend of aggressive thinking in videogame studies period, but there is, which indicates most people have the same fundamental instincts of good vs. evil. That is: good must triumph over evil. And when people react to videogames violently, that's their minds' way of saying, this is against my fundamental ethics. See, the brain becomes confused when playing an FPS. It enjoys the FPS, that is to say, shooting things for the sport of it, but it also knows it's wrong, which leads to the anger management problem.

Well, you see, @Cameron: Well, you see, you are sent to do good works, and playing a game where you enjoy shooting imaginary aliens is not good works. It is evil to enjoy controlling a soldier and shooting creatures for the sport of it. It's like saying, "Oh look! I can look at p**n and still believe in God and not be wavered in my walk with Christ!" That's not a very endearing light.

Look, we can go around and around about this, but the bottom line is, if the game doesn't affect your walk with Christ and if you don't go around and use the language that you hear, which most if not all people don't, then just play the game and enjoy it. End of story.

Oh, and people do play games to "fight an imaginary war." Duh, that's why we play video games, to live in an imaginary world. And that's the big word: IMAGINARY. It's all fake. FAKE. Nothing we do it real. There is only a small amount of people who actually believe that when they are shooting an alien on the game that they are really shooting something. VERY small amount.

Seriously, it's just a game, and for me, it's not wavered my walk with Christ in any way, so why can't I play it?
