The Lord of the Rings (the books) were written by a Christian, who put in some obvious nods to Christianity, although he was very much against people using the term 'allegory' when reading his books. Even though he didn't write it as an allegory, it still shows obvious nods to Christianity, and it's story and backstory contain many elements of Christianity. Heavy violence is in the books, movies, games, and also in the real world, and there's nothing we can do about it. It's life. Evil people DO fight brutally, as shown in LotR, and they ARE ruthless. That's why when Tolkien wrote LotR, he wrote it so that the evil and good sides were obvious, and not confusable. The good side is doing what is considered the right thing to do, and is trying to free people from tyranny, and the evil side is trying to enslave all the free people in the world. Good side wins, bad side loses, all is well in the end. Classic good vs. evil.
