The worst aspects of the Guitar Hero games are undoubtedly female immodesty and song lyrics. But the awesome gameplay and the good songs more than make up for it. Since you can get the game (GH III)for under $50 on Amazon now, it's definately worth it.

This is a great game the promblem with all the guitar heroes is that the graphics aren't that great. There are five songs on here that are great to play over and over again like..... Stricken, Before I forget, My curse, Through the fire and flames, and Bulls on parade. Great game, can't wait till world tour.

Personally, I think it's a blast to play GHIII at parties. When my friends and I play it, we always agree not of play the "bad songs."

As for Lou (aka Satan), I find it funny that our culture has turned the devil into the cliche, stereotypical red man with horns that too many people see him as today. The real Satan is so much worse, and he is much more powerful than we are. The good news is that God almighty, the Creator of the universe, has already defeated him, and He gives salvation freely to those who ask!

The fact that Lou represents Lucifer - no matter how comical or tame it might seem - absolutely sickens me.

Jesus paid much too high a price - His life - for our sins. To mess around and play silly with the entity that represents that sin is not something I am willing to do.

As a huge fan of Guitar Hero, I was more than impressed with this third installment.
If you want to go with the whole "worldly" theory, you have to consider: this game was meant for the purpose of emulating popular music (plus some stinkers, depending on taste). It's designed simply to be fun, and it's not like the developers went out of their way to eliminate Christian themes.
It's rock and roll, after all.
And as for the occult themes:
1) Lou is meant to be comical. They take the concept of a cliche contract agent who takes advantage of his band, and then turn him into a parody of the devil. He even has a comb sticking out of his vest pocket.
2) The Number of the Beast, according to the lyrics, is actually ANTI-Satanism. It's about a man trying to escape from a Satanic cult.
3) Raining Blood is a popular metal song, and is very difficult to play. Those two aspects made it ideal for a rhythm game that tests your dexterity.
Overall, I have a blast with this series. Sure, some of the songs can be lame (WHY they included the British screamy-punk In The Belly of A Shark is beyond me), but the "questionable" content seems almost trivial in the long run. The game takes the classic fantasy of being a rock star and simulates it to perfection.
So, if you're willing to shell out some big bucks, you'll be more than getting your money's worth.

and in this day and age, this game is actually one of the "nicer" games. Your not robbing from people like in grand theft auto, or killing people, or teaching and desensatizing kids to endless killing for no apparent reason. at "least" in WW2 games you are fighting for freedom.

my parents don't have a problem with my sister and I playing it because we understand that they are worldly, and we don't want to be like that. But i will agree that some of them are scantilly-clad, and that they should cover up. And some of the songs do have violent references. But seriously, it is made by the world, i dont think they had any intensions on this being with a christian point of view, although i wish they wouldin't put some things in it, Im suprized that it is as clean as it is. i think it's overall an okay game (depending on your views.) (We are living in the world, not of the world,

I like the fact that there is a christian reviewer looking at games, (I came initially looking into Call to Duty), but seeing you reviewed this Guitar Hero and recommended it for kids is beyond me!

Watching kids play it at the stores is revolting enough. The hyped up "act it out" scenario done to this outrageous music is doing nothing but encouraging kids to imitate the world. It is not healthy at all. The half dressed chicks gyrating all over sealed it for me.

After living through the rock n roll years (as a part time roadie of sorts), I saw the seemy underside, and it planted alot of seeds of imagination in my head that did not belong there. I have spent many nights in tears and solitude before my Lord wondering "why did I go down that road".

Good music uplifts, most rock/rap trash is empty and self serving. Dont buy Guitar hero.
