Also, I don't really even play with the headphones, it's hard enough to stay alive, without someone screeming in my ear. Also, I dont think it detracts from the fun, it actually enhances it in my opinion. And, like Wampa King said, all people do online is swear, so it's not like you are missing some oppurtunity for strategy, and I dont feel like hearing some swear at me. Not that I care about their childish words, it's just that I don't need to here that junk.

I'm sorry to say that I was a little dissapointed with this one. Call of Duty 3 is way better than this. I mean I love world war 2 better than modern times. It's just that killing nazis is a whole lot more fun than killing terrorists besides I like the characters from COD3 better so i'll just give this one a 3/5.

Finaly GoW and CoD are getting filters that work!
It's only been a few years since a game had a working filter, I hope these are different.

First of all, I would like to address the violence. 9 times out of ten, you will NOT see the blood slpatter on teh wall behind the enemy, because pulling off headshots in this game is so insanely harder than COD2 that you will just shoot them in the stomach, with no blood. Second, I only heard the S word 3 times, and that was the worst. I will admit Online play is crude, but you can mute the players. Personally I pray for the little kids who cuss. I even lead a guy to Christ on this game!!! And about what LGR878 said about COD5, they have confirmed that there is an option to turn intense blood and language off, rendering it exactly like COD4, in terms of blood and language. and I highly recommend you turn the filter on, because without it, you will see heads explode if you use the double barrel shotty!

Campaign
Similar to previous games in the series, the player takes on the role of various characters during a single-player campaign. The characters' involvement in the plot occurs simultaneously and overlaps the events in the game. As such, the player's perspective can change from one character to another between missions.

Each mission features a series of objectives; the player is led to each objective with the HUD, which marks its direction and distance. Some objectives require that the player arrives at a checkpoint, while other objectives require the player to eliminate enemies in a specified location, stand their ground to defend an objective, or plant explosive charges on an enemy installation. The player is often accompanied by friendly troops, who cannot be issued orders. Laptop computers containing enemy intelligence appear throughout the campaign, and can be collected to unlock game bonuses.

After the credits roll, a special epilogue mission is unlocked for play, featuring an anonymous four-man squad of SAS troops retrieving a VIP from terrorists who have hijacked an airliner. The SAS rescue the VIP and escape before the plane is destroyed.

Multiplayer

A player completes the objective of a Domination multiplayer game by capturing a flag.Call of Duty 4 features team-based and deathmatch-based multiplayer modes on various maps. Each mode has an objective that requires unique strategies to complete. Players can call in UAV reconnaissance scans, air strikes, and attack helicopters, either an AH-1 Cobra for S.A.S. or USMC or an Mi-24 for OpFor or Spetsnaz, when they achieve three-, five-, and seven-enemy kill streaks respectively. A game ends when either a team has reached a predefined number of points, or the alloted time expires in which case the team with the most points wins. However in the rare case the points are even when the time expires, Sudden Death mode is activated in which there is no re-spawning and the team who either has the last man standing, or achieves the objective first are the winners.

Online multiplayer also tracks the player's progress and score in the online leaderboards. Players can compare their standing in Overall Score, Accuracy, Win & Loss and Kill & Death ratio with other players in their friends' list or around the world.

The player's performance in the multiplayer mode is tracked with experience points, earned by taking down other players, completing objectives, or by being a member of a winning team. As the player gains experience, they advance in level, unlocking new weapons, perks, challenges, and gameplay modes. The highest obtainable level is 55, but on the console versions of the game, the player has the option to play "Prestige" mode; this resets their level back to 1 and all earned bonuses are lost in exchange for a special in-game insignia. This process can be repeated up to 10 times with a different insignia being given each time, giving the player a total of 605 levels to achieve.

Completing a challenge grants experience points and may unlock weapon attachments. When a player's level increases, it may unlock new weapons, perks, or challenges. At lower experience levels, the player only has access to five pre-determined classes, and cannot create a custom class with the weapon of their choosing. However, as the player advances in levels, they earn the ability to customize their classes. This includes selecting their main weapon, side arm, and special grenade type. Additionally, the player can select a limited number of "perks" that can customize their character further. Perk effects include increasing damage by the player, being able to take more damage, or detonating a grenade after being killed in an act of martyrdom. The player is also given challenges to attempt, including achieving a certain number of kills with a specific weapon or shooting down a helicopter or performing a number of head shots.

With that said, this game is not suitable for kids especially, but ok for most teens. When you shoot an enemy you see a shot of blood spray from the wound (similar to the other Call Of Duty games. Which are rated T). While playing online if you shoot an enemy in the head you see some blood. The game is not overly-graphic, but it is realistic. Language is also another factor to the M rating. The “f-word” is never used, but characters say s*** a few of times as well as various word combinations using the word “bloody,” which here in America isn’t a big deal, but is used as sort of a curse word in England.

The gameplay is amazing, and the story line was very well written. You play as a member of the S.A.S. and a United States Marine. Your goal in the game is to hunt down a terrorist who killed the president of a middle eastern country. Things only get better when he detonates a nuclear warhead in the middle of a populated city. You later realize there is another, higher power in this operation and must hunt down and kill him. COD4 (Call Of Duty 4) takes you through the cities of the middle east, and the woods of Russia in different campaigns.

On a positive note, Activision has sought to expand the online play. Many players had requested that there be some kind of a rank system players go through, and weapons they can unlock. Activision has done this and more. You have ranks and guns to unlock, but you also have certain “challenges” to complete with the unlocking of a new rank. When you unlock a new gun the challenges are you must get a certain number of kills using it, and a certain number of head-shots. Other “challenges include shooting down a helicopter, calling in an air-strike, etc.

This has to be one of my favorite video games. The content isn't light, but not overdone. I would not recommend this game for any teen under the age of 14- 15 unless they are quite a bit more mature than their actual age. Online I have found there are players that are about 9 years old, and in my opinion they have no business being on it, or playing this game period. Parents with a 9 year old begging you to get this game for them I’d recommend that you pass. Otherwise I would definitely recommend this to any fan of first-person shooters!

This is my new favorite game, the headshots can be
a bit on the bloody side, and there is some language in it, but nothing too bad. I'm 12, and I didn't think it's as bad as people say it is. but I haven't got to the "dog"
part, or when the guys arm gets shot off,so when I get
there, i'll tell you what I thought of it.

Call of Duty 5 will give you guys a heart attack...

Treyarch SAID they're going for a more violent and more realistic (As in not "censoring" the soldiers hate for the enemy soldiers, etc.) game than this one.

First off the game itself is a 10. The graphic visuals are amazing and the online game play is definitely worth playing over and over. The only complaint I have is the shortness of the campaign mode which is cut down to brief 3 acts.

Violence/language: The violence is mild there is barely ANY blood. (About the same as Counterstrike)
Online play is the heart of this game but heres a warning all Christians should know.
Don't be surprised that the majority of players are little foul mouthed kids who are clearly under 11 swearing death threats and making sexual crude taunts. I have heard it all from kids of all ages, the ones I find most annoying are the kids who haven't even reached puberty yet cursing worse than a sailor. Then we have these adults cussing out the little kids telling them to hang themselves or other obscenities, and the little kids swearing back and so forth. Every time you sign on be prepared to hear the F word at least a million times and enough crude dirty remarks to make up for 2000 uncensored episodes of South Park. Personally I find it sad to hear 1000's of little kids online everyday talking smack but hey if their parents want video games to teach them how to talk than this is the outcome. And yes millions of kids have this game (I can see by just going online) along with many other much more violent games.
