Admittedly, Shadow the Hedgehog ain't the most Christian-friendly Sonic game out there, and they generally are. There are many dark and dramatic themes, the game uses near-intolerable use of the d-word, and Shadow once tell Dr. Eggman that he's "going straight to h***", which is he most adult language used throughout the game. There's also the use of swords and firearms, but it's not terribly graphic. Overall, I do like this game, but it could use some improvement in the child-friendliness area. Because Shadow fits the 'emo' category, a whole lotta people tell themselves they like the game before they even play it, having a biased opinion simply because of Shadow's emo-osity. I am one of the people that knows to resist such pointless fads and am wholeheartedly agreeing with this review. Why a lot of secular fantasy lovers out there like emo and dark characters, I don't know. Oh, and Shadow is also a mary-sue, another thing I really despise. It'll take me a while to explain what a mary-sue is. Wikipedia is your friend.
