English:
I've played other Castlevania. I got rid of them after seeing the main character stop fighting to end the evil and began to fight because of revenge. Moreover, in other games (Castlevania), there are personal possessions and other things mystical. If you want to play Castlevania, the one I recommend is the Castlevania 1. The one in which the good battle evil.

O único no qual o bem enfrenta o mal.

@<a href="#comment-3561" rel="nofollow">Theophilus</a>:

More like a bad joke on the gamers to me. You got that right about him being annoying. I was stuck fighting him for a long time. The only time I didn't die multiple times was when I fought him in OoE.

I just got started myself. I would tend to agree with you, I'll admit there wasn't much to be offended by, although chances are there are people who are apprehensive about anything to do with vampires and such. I know at first I was very much that way. I don't defend anything that presents them in a good way though, like Twilight, but Castlevania doesn't do that. Like I said, you're trying to destroy Dracula not join him.

You got that right. It sure played like one. I think I couldn't take it seriously after I ran into Frankenstien's monster. If anything, I started laughing at it, follow shortly by crying over my next round of losses against him.

The grim reaper is kind of a joke in Castlevania games. Seriously, he's more annoying than anything.

Personally, I've been playing Castlevania games since I was a young kid with a NES and it never led me to anything bad but yeah it's good to mention what could be perceived by some as offensive content. I'd say it's a little ridiculous to find this game very offensive; it's a little too dated in some respects to really cause that much of an impact. It reminds me more of Halloween and cheesy ghost stories; "Sounds like a cheesy horror film doesn’t it?"- at times, I'd have to admit it plays like one.

On a different note, they did do some sort of remake of the first castlevania (I think) on the playstation called "Castlevania Chronicles". I don't really know anything more about that game though.

@<a href="#comment-3422" rel="nofollow">Chozon1</a>:

I know what you mean. I wanted to scream just from the first stage. I wanted to throw my Wii Remote at the screen when I got to Death and Dracula.

Some people regard that as mere superstition, and from what I can tell, it's not well recieved. Plus, who knows, this might push some people into the occult. I don't know if it does.

Don't get me wrong. I'm starting to like Castlevania myself. I tried this game for the VC and I wasn't offended by it. If anything, like I said, it played out like some cheesy movie. Still, some people will see it differently, so I have to cover that area.

And I'd say you have a point. It could be a springboard of sorts into a talk about the cross and what was really accomplished. Still, I have to cover any possibilities.

Interesting review.

You nailed the difficulty on the head. Very few games have brought me to the screaming point quite like this one.

On the other hand, I'm scratching my head over your thoughts on the content. Wouldn't the fact that the cross is used to defeat evil be a good thing?
