This is a racing simulation game in which players can select and drive a collection of rally/GT cars and off-road vehicles. Players can race against other vehicles on a variety of tracks, record and replay their races, and unlock more events and tours after certain victories. Some background songs contain allusions to violence (e.g., “…there’s no difference between a knife in your hand and a gun in your back” and “I can kill I can love”).

Following on the success of the original Dirt as well as a decade of videogame development in partnership with the late Colin McRae, DiRT 2 explores various disciplines of off-road racing. Dirt 2 features a roster of contemporary off-road events, taking players to the most diverse and challenging real-world environments. This World Tour has players competing in aggressive multi-car and intense solo races at extraordinary new locations, from canyon racing and jungle trails to city stadium-based events.

I was a huge fan of the of the original Colin McRae series. But when they switched over to the new name “Dirt” they changed a lot of the game play and left many of the fans of the original games ostracized. It seems they have strayed far from the roots of the original game and rallying as a sport, the new game includes truck racing, dirt circuit racing, and some sort of strange rally type racing in which there are more than one cars racing on the same section of road at a time.

Needless to say the Dirt series has been a major disappointment to the true rally fans.
