   They made this sequal more like a hollywood movie. Theres ALOT more swearing, at least 10 F-words, and sex scences where your forced to control the player as he strips down the girl and whatnot. Although the gameplay was outstanding and way better than the first game, imo, i sold it after one play through just cuz i hate exposing my self to such content

   To all of you Christian men out there, I'm so sad that my husband is playing this game. I want it out of my home. I was in the kitchen and my baby was in the swing next to the tv when the F word was stated very loud, something we never say in our home. I also saw prostitutes beckoning to the character my husband was playing. And I was mortified to see the stabbing described in the review. I only wish I had found this website before my husband bought the game. I know if he had read it, he wouldn't have bought it. Don't put your wife through this stress. Choose something more edifying to do with your time. And wives, pray for our husbands that they'll put Christ before themselves and that they sacrifice things like this to love their wives the way Christ loved the Church.

   im sorry, but your husband knew full well what he was getting when he bought the game. dont 'pray for your husbands,' why not just say, id rather not have this obviously violent and adult game (which is made very clear by the rating system used) around your baby. i can understand that, but to act as if hes some innocent pawn in the game industries crazy schemes….come on. fair enough its an adult game, it shouldnt have been around your child, but your both adults, im sure 99% of what goes on in this world doesnt fit into the G rated world so many people wish they were living in

   The thing that disappoints me the most is that all that stuff isn't really necessary. I have no problems with actions games that do not depict graphic violence, obscene language and sexuality. Why do we need this stuff in video games? Just give me action, nothing else! That's why I like to play online instead of single player often. It's just the gameplay, nothing else extraneous. Sure, you may have bad players with horrible mouths, but that's controllable, and the game remains neutral in that aspect.

   I played this game from start to finish & though I enjoyed my time with it, I would not play it again, nor would I have playEd it knowing what I know now.

   True it’s a violent game & there are sexual elements as described above, it is possible though to turn off the blood animation. This significantly lessens the impact of the violence.

   The main issue I had with this game was that the story implies that religion is a lie. There’s a few puzzles in the game that imply parts of the bible were censored and that Christs crucifixion & glorious Ressurection were faked. It all gets a bit De Vinci Code-ish

   The origin of the human race is called into question, there’s even a series of puzzles to unlock a video that tells you “The Truth”

   While as Christians we know the real Truth, it’s my concern that the uneducated may be swayed here.
   At any rate I would advise against playing this

   yes, I too bought this game and now wish I hadn't. I have faith, and it was not altered at all playing this game, but I am afraid that people that are swaying on the fence of religious belief will lean over to the "non-believer" side. I will never buy another assassin's creed game again.

    We can't really control what goes on in the world, but we can control what we bring into our homes to set our eyes on- can't we? What we choose to entertain ourselves with as opposed to the story of Jesus going and ministering to people the Pharisees thought were worldly people…..?

    The only way you can skip the sex scene is to turn off the screen and press buttons. Also, as you can tell from the esrb rip above, the game seems to have a bit of non-pure sexual attitude in the game. What bothers me the most is the attitude of the main character. From the first 20 min I have seen, the main character is very pompous (though I heard he grows up… a little) and so much that the game has to imply he takes a girl's virginity… From what I know the 1st game has no sexuality in it- why did they have to throw in this player stud mentality and also the "prostitution was a popular Italian institution" idea this time around? Just why was it so necessary?

    I agree with Luke. The game is devoid of spirituality, and even the Assassin's manifesto, "Nothing is true, everything is permissible" is morally ambiguous.

    The game is also demeaning towards women. In Assassin's Creed Ii, the player has to use prostitutes to lure soldiers away from their posts. There is also, as previously mentioned, a scene of premarital and unloving sex.

    Furthermore, there is a character in the game who runs a brothel, claiming her brothel is devoted to the work of God. This is blasphemous and goes against the Holy Bible. Believers who plan on playing this game should be wary of its underlying morals.

    This game has a really odd storyline. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's anti christian as it presents other religions as well. One plot device the story surrounds the "all religions are false" concept, that every religious based thing was an illusion created by a "piece of eden". It's kind of similar to the davinci code kind of stuff. It also includes biblical characters in the story such as Jesus or Adam and Eve, in the story, they are users of the piece of eden. I wouldn't say the developers were trying to take a hit against God or any particular religion. I think I remember a disclaimer in the first game that mentioned something along the lines of "This game was developed by many different people belonging to many different faiths". But then there are the moral issues with the sex and whatnot. I haven't actually played the game but I would not consider it anti-christian, perhaps the developers were just trying to get a deep thought provoking story line like the da vinci code or other stories similar to that.

    I was pretty excited about this game, at first. I'm probably biased, because of my Italian heritage, but, the game does look pretty. I did notice some questionable religious ideas in the original Assassin's Creed, though. I was going through existential anxiety, so when one of my targets suggested that there was nothing after death, it didn't quite help my situation. Then again, that encouraged me to research the Bible even more, and, in the end, I'm more adamant in my faith than ever. I admit that I at first felt bad about the civilians, even if they were only virtual, when my cousin got bored and went on a killing spree.

    Violence, I can handle, to an extent, but, I don't have much respect for the inclusion of strong language and sexual content in this series (and, man, if the next one's set in WWI(I), I can only imagine…). I doubt I'll be playing it anytime soon in any case, because my cousin's the one with the 360, and he's only just nearly fourteen. Still, that kind of deplorable content, I don't remember in the original. Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen (the film) was ruined for me because it was littered with that stuff, too.

    Oh, one thing that stands out in these games is their attention to history. It's Assassin's Creed that got me interested in history, after all. I wish there were more games like that.

    Definitely a game that insists upon itself. I'm not a bible banger, but I am religious. And right away it became clear to me that the programmers seemed to want to emphasize the story line/ anti-god views more than make a fun, replayable game. Apparently they all but gave up on making the game play fun. It was like a terrible rap song, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive. So glad my gf beat this damn game. I can get back to a real game now- Modern Warfare II…nice.

    After 25 to 30 hours of gaming. I was rather offended at the ending of the game. It is revealed that the game is based on Panspermia. Panspermia – theory that life on Earth began in outer space. The game makes a statement in the beginning that the game does not represent or is a mix of religious beliefs. Yet, the game is based on Panspermia … a belief that degrades GOD. This is where we are heading … a belief that God does not exist? It takes more "faith" to believe we came from aliens. Who or what created the aliens? There to much "evidence today" to prove the Bible is "the truth". Not a bunch of stories or "theory" a human being can come up with on their own.

    Some people can't tell fiction from reality. And to be fair the game presents an anti-deity/religion message, not just your god in particular.

    I finally got and beat this game for my PC. I am a history student at a major university and also a practicing Roman Catholic. While I enjoyed the game play of the first game, I was slightly offended by its distorted presentation of the Crusading era and its portrayal of almost all Christians (except for King Richard) as inherently evil… as well as the premiere Christian knightly order, the Templars as a bunch of bloodthirsty atheists.

    Despite the uneasy feeling the first game gave me I had to have the second one because I studied in Italy for a summer and know the cities like the back of my hand.

    Overall the game play and presentation of Renaissance Italy are incredible. Though not building by building/street by street, the portrayal of Florence was accurate enough that I knew how to go all over the city without even looking at the map… the same can be said to most of Venice.

    However… while the first game was slightly anti-religion with a bit of a veiled agenda against Christianity, the sequel is openly and viciously anti-Catholic. Not one Catholic character is presented in a positive light (The protagonist and his family seem to have no religious or spiritual beliefs). You are tasked with murdering priests, bishops, and the game concludes with ****SPOILER*** breaking into the Vatican and attempting to assassinate the Pope while he is saying Mass in the Sistine Chapel. After a prolonged battle against the Pope where he claims Christianity and the Bible are a lie, he is subdued and a secret door opens revealing an Alien named Minerva (Ancient Roman God) in the crypt that St. Peter is believed to be buried in. **** END SPOILER***

    On top of that the game includes a historical database with a brief description of each monument and historical person you encounter. You can say that the plot has to do with fiction and the corruption of the Renaissance Papacy, however the descriptions of various churches, basilicas, and saints reveal a seething hatred of the Christian faith. For instance the game literally states that St. Peter's basilica was built atop of the place where Christians were martyred as a means of pretending that persecution never happened (Never stating that the reason it was built atop of Peter's tomb was to commemorate the martyrs). It is implied that St. Catherine of Sienna (Doctor of the Church) is only a saint because she had sexual relations with the Pope (COMPLETELY NOT SUPPORTED BY ANY HISTORY I HAVE EVER READ). Pretty much every description of churches has an unnecessary potshot taken at the faith itself, and I found myself very insulted.

    That being said it is an incredible game, I don't mind the violence and sexuality they are fictional acts that I choose not commit in real life, however it is insulted to see my religious faith clearly and maliciously targeted.

    Buy the game for the sites and entertainment, take the story and 'history' with a grain of salt.

    Truly a phenomenal game, and the sexual content is not nearly as bad as the review makes it seem. The prostitutes (courtesans) are dressed fine and do nothing other than walk around and flirt with guards. You can't ever sleep with them, or anyone for that matter. The "undressing mini-game" is at the very beginning of the game and involves nothing more than pressing two buttons and seeing the bare back of a woman.

    The game is extremely violent, much more so than the first game. You stab enemies in the faces a lot, and the results in some pretty bloody helmets. No dismemberment though. And the language is there, but it gets lost in the background most of the time.

    Oh, and both the "nude" running around and the man frantically describing his visions are not part of the main storyline. They're part of the side quest "The Truth", and to unlock the scenes requires you to find 30 glyphs hidden around the game. It's really interesting to see all the conspiracy theories presented in it (although it does put even more emphasis on the anti-religion aspect of the game), but it does require a lot of effort to find them all, and the "vision" scene is one of the last ones.

    Notice also how I said "anti-religion". The game is not simply anti-Christian or anti-God; it goes against all religions in general, although Christian imagery is used more often than other stuff (like Greek mythology).

    I intend on buying this game. I have been raised well, have a good head on my shoulders and all that. I am avidly Christian. So before anyone starts continuing this 'all forms of fiction and media are evil' discussion, I'd just like to put that out there. I merely want to ask a question: Is it possible to play this game, bypassing or censoring some of the parts of sexual nature?

    From what I understand, there is one graphic scene, some innuendo and an unlockable scene. Is it possible to just turn the monitor off and skip this? Are they part of the main plot or are they optional?

    Yes, I understand there are many controversial issues surrounding this game, but this is the one that I'm asking for information on. If anyone who has played this game has logical opinion or advice on this matter, it would be much appreciated. As a note, I don't allow anything in media, whether it be books, movies or games, to influence the way I live and my walk with Christ. That said, I obviously don't like to be over exposed to this sort of thing. So if there is a rational, reasonable way to play this game, I think I'd enjoy it. I'm not going to want to become an assassin just because I played a video game

    (oh, and as far as age-appropriateness goes, I am a high school senior, 17. Sure, it's rated M and I'm 'young'. I am pretty mature however, and am very capable of making judgements about my life. )

    Assassins Creed 2 i think was an amazing game overall, (it would have been much better without the sexual content and swearing though) i was very surprised by the first part with the "scene" where your pushing the 2 buttons, when you come to that part just look away there are only two buttons so just look at your controller or something… the storyline WAS anti-religion, but it did make you use your brain. Honestly the thing with the aliens was flat out CORNY! its kinda what ruined the last indiana jones film for me… for me the violence is not a problem, NO ONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE A FIRM RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD SHOULD PLAY THIS THOUGH!!! If you do play this game, be sure to keep your guard up and to not be swayed in your beliefs by a game. B)
