The Shin Megami Tensei games are fairly new to American Audiences. Due to the game’s mature subject matter, most of them had trouble making their way overseas. The first game we were treated to was Nocturne, the third game in the main series. Reviews were mostly positive, yet Nocturne was criticized for its unrelenting difficulty. Atlus thus decided to ease new players until the series with a *somewhat* easier spin-off: Digital Devil Saga. They released the game in two separate volumes. Since both games are essentially part of the same story, they will be regarded as one in this review.

Dragon Quest VIII is the eighth game in the renowned Dragon Quest RPG series. While previous games in the series have been dubbed Dragon Warrior, because of copyright law problems, the proper name has finally been allowed to be used. Dragon Quest VIII begins when an evil jester known as Dholmagus steals a cursed scepter from the castle of Trodain. After stealing the scepter, Dholmagus casts a spell over the kingdom, cursing all of its inhabitants and turning them into plants, as well as turning King Trode and Princess Medea into a toad like monster and a horse, respectively. Your character is the only person to have escaped from this curse. As a member of the royal guard it is your duty to track down the evil jester and lift the curse from Trodain castle. Along the way you will befriend an ex-thief, a high-class girl, and a templar

Devil May Cry was released about 4 years ago. It was a gothic horror action/adventure game. Of course, with it's title having the word "devil" in it, it might not appeal to many Christians. But if you were mature enough, you were in a for a treat. Now, "Devil May Cry 3", the prequel to "Devil May Cry", is out. Is it awesome? Yes! Is it offensive? Sort of. Can you handle the difficulty? If you're not a pro, you don't have very much of a chance. In Devil may Cry 3, you play the role of Dante, a half-demon, half-human, demon hunter. His father, Sparda, sealed off the demon realm 2,000 years ago. Now Dante's evil twin brother is trying to open the realm once again.
